YVES SAINT LAURENT CHANGING ITS NAME TO SAINT LAURENT PARIS

At first, it was just a rumor that Hedi Slimane - the new creative director - wanted to change the brand's name from YVES SAINT LAURENT to simply SAINT LAURENT PARIS.  It is true that all major luxury fashion brands go only by their founders last name (Chanel, Dior, Versace, Prada), but would YSL really be willing to make that big of a change now?

Well, Fashionista.com and WWD have just confirmed that YSL (or should we say "SLP" from now on?) has confirmed the change of name of the house to SAINT LAURENT PARIS and that "the Yves, along with the iconic YSL logo are to disappear and the new branding is expected to be introduced by the time Slimane’s spring 2013 collections hit stores".

We don't know the reason behind this decision yet, but whatever it is, it seems to be strong one, since rebranding an entire house that includes not only fashion but a beauty line, should be at least very expensive...
