GUCCI v. GUESS CASE OUTCOME

Because the decision on this case came out during my trip NYC, I totally forgot to post it here on the blog (my bad!).

Anyway, after three years, the GUCCI v. GUESS case came to end. On May 21, a judge from Manhattan awarded Gucci US$ 4.7 million (and not the US$ 221 million originally claimed) in damages for the Guess' violation of its interlocking G trademark, red-striped color and shading pattern, commonly used on their shoes, to be slipt between Guess (US$ 2.3 million) and Marc Fisher Footwear - the shoes licensee (US$ 1.9 million, later reduced to US$ 456,183).
